About The Project
Impande Zobuntu (Roots of Humanity) is a three-phase storytelling development initiative designed to promote indigenous narratives, creative expression, and knowledge-sharing across communities. The first two phases of the project focused on a storytelling competition in the North West Province for emerging community artists, an online short story competition for high school learners, and online storytelling workshops for ECD practitioners, equipping educators with practical tools to strengthen storytelling in the classroom and enhance literacy development.
The final phase culminates in a vibrant, one-day Storytelling Festival hosted at Sibikwa Arts Centre in Gauteng. The festival features performances by leading storytellers in the industry, alongside emerging voices.
