From local townships to global platforms, our voice continues to grow. Through inclusive festivals, cultural exchanges, and youth-led civic projects, we are opening new pathways for democratic participation, dialogue, and placemaking.
In March, Sibikwa participated in the 10th Anniversary of the Forgotten Angle Theatre Collaborative’s My Body My Space: Public Arts Festival, presenting inclusive dance performances of Synergy 2, created in partnership with the UK’s Mark Smith Productions and Very Easy Productions, and Bells & Sirens 2, choreographed by Thapelo Kotlolo – which both fit perfectly within the festival’s focus on climate, the environment, placemaking, access and creative excellence.
Following the success of our Commonwealth Foundation supported Urban Culture, Democracy and Governance Labs and Delegation of the Government of Flanders in South Africa funded You, Me & Democracy project, which you can read more about here and access related frameworks and toolkits here; we look forward to driving this movement globally by sharing our learnings around value and approaches through our Democracy in Motion, a youth-led cultural exchange focused on Africa-global exchange, which is currently in development. We welcome partnership from interested and aligned organisations.
