Sibikwa Arts Centre invites applications for its Internship Programme, running from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027.

This opportunity is designed for young South Africans who are eager to gain meaningful workplace experience within the arts, culture, and nonprofit sector. Interns will become part of a dynamic and creative environment where learning, collaboration, and professional growth are encouraged.

We are looking for committed, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individuals between the ages of 18 and 34 who are ready to contribute, learn new skills, and strengthen their professional experience. Applicants residing in Ekurhuleni are especially encouraged to apply.

📌 ADMINISTRATION INTERN

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing general administrative support, including managing phones, emails, filing systems, and documentation
  • Assisting with scheduling, calendar coordination, meeting preparation, and event logistics
  • Supporting procurement administration and maintaining supplier records
  • Assisting with data collection and information management for reports, proposals, and grant submissions
  • Managing feedback forms and supporting monitoring and evaluation processes
  • Providing project planning and coordination support across departments
  • Assisting with record-keeping and organisational compliance processes

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric plus a completed Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or a related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong organisational, communication, and time management skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Interest in the nonprofit arts and culture sector
  • Willingness to work flexible hours when required

📌 PROJECTS AND EVENTS INTERN

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with planning, coordination, and production meetings
  • Supporting the coordination and delivery of artistic programmes, workshops, productions, and community events
  • Assisting with event logistics, production schedules, venue preparation, and vendor coordination
  • Supporting technical setup and breakdown, including lighting, sound, and audiovisual equipment
  • Assisting with storeroom organisation, asset management, and equipment tracking
  • Providing on-site support during events and assisting with troubleshooting when needed
  • Supporting project administration and reporting processes

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric plus a completed Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Arts Administration, Events Management, Technical Production, Performing Arts, or a related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and event/project management tools
  • Basic knowledge or experience in lighting, sound, and audiovisual equipment
  • Strong multitasking, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required
