We are looking for an energetic, organised, and creative Marketing Coordinator to support and strengthen our marketing and communications, working closely with the team to ensure Sibikwa’s work is visible, engaging and clearly communicated.

About Sibikwa Arts Centre

Sibikwa is a vibrant hub for quality arts education and professional training, inclusive cultural participation, and excellent creative presentation. Based in Benoni, with a footprint nationally and internationally, we champion creative expression, social transformation and economic inclusion through arts, culture and heritage. Our work is collaborative, people-centred, and rooted in community – and our communications should reflect that spirit.

About the Role

This role balances hands-on delivery with coordination and strategic thinking. You will administer and maintain key marketing platforms while also guiding teams, shaping content direction, and ensuring consistency across Sibikwa’s public-facing communication. You won’t be doing everything alone, but you will play a central role in bringing together ideas, people, and platforms to tell Sibikwa’s story well.

Key Responsibilities

1. Content & Brand Oversight

  • Guide and support the team in developing and adapting creative content for multiple platforms.
  • Lead the planning and scheduling of content calendars, and oversee implementation.
  • Ensure messaging, tone, and visuals align with Sibikwa’s values and brand identity.

2. Digital Platforms & Audience Engagement

  • Create strategies to increase visibility, growth, interaction, and audience engagement.
  • Administer Sibikwa’s social media, including publishing content, maintaining engagement, and monitoring analytics.
  • Maintain an up-to-date website and digital presence, collaborating with the team to ensure event information, news, and project content is current.
  • Report on and use insights to inform content direction and communication strategies.

3. Marketing, Promotion & Public Visibility

  • Develop marketing strategies for Sibikwa’s projects, programmes, events, and creative services, including reaching new audiences and clients and strengthening relationships with existing partners and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate, oversee and support the execution of marketing and promotional activities.
  • Support media and publicity activities, including coordinating press content and building media relationships.

4. Communication & Information Management

  • Maintain mailing lists and keep contact databases organised and up to date.
  • Administer newsletter distribution, email campaigns, and other communication initiatives.

What We’re Looking For? Someone who is curious, creative, and organised, who enjoys working collaboratively, and has:

  • An interest in arts, culture, and community-based work.
  • Experience or a strong interest in marketing, communications, or digital media.
  • Confidence in coordinating and managing work, alongside hands-on delivery.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with a feel for storytelling and tone.
  • Comfort with social media platforms, websites, and basic analytics.
  • Experience or developing skills in photography, video or graphic design.
  • Familiarity with email platforms such as Mailchimp.
  • Comfort working with teams or coordinating freelancers.
