Sibikwa Arts Centre together with the Entrepreneurship Development Trust is proud to announce its 2023 call for entrepreneurs to participate in its Uvuko Creative Arts Entrepreneurship Incubator programme. The programme is offering registered SMMEs located in Ekurhuleni, operating within the fields of arts education or training, design or production, advocacy and live or digital performance, the opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial potential. This is a chance for young businesses struggling to thrive in today’s relentless climate to grow their products, services, brand and access to the creative industry and economy.

The Uvuko Creative Arts Entrepreneurship Incubator programme connects training and mentorship to business development, income generation and market expansion opportunities, so that creatives can build their skills to benefit from and compete in local and international arenas. 12 entrepreneurs will be selected to participate in a 6-month full-time CATHSSETA accredited training programme inclusive of Arts Administration Unit Standards, supplemented by modules in Entrepreneurship and Digital Media. In addition, the programme will host workshops with experienced industry artists, cultural leaders and finance practitioners, and specialists in global networking. At the end of the programme, entrepreneurs will pitch a socially responsive, artistically innovative, and financially sustainable project concept and 3 entrepreneurs will be selected and supported with the necessary resources to develop and implement a project under the mentorship of an industry expert.

Training and mentorship will run from April – September 2023 and the incubation of the selected 3 young creatives, will continue until November 2023. The programme culminates in the launch of the 3 project concepts from 1 – 10 November 2023.

Interested creatives that meet the programme criteria and are able to commit to the full 6-month full-time training programme can submit the documents detailed below to conferences@sibikwa.co.za to be considered for the programme.
