“People develop themselves by what they do; they develop themselves by making decisions, increasing their knowledge and ability and by their full participation – as equals – in the life of their community.” – Julius Nyerere
We’re excited to invite you to the fourth installment of the Urban Labs project, where we continue our journey of shaping vibrant and livable communities through collective action. This unique initiative, led by Sibikwa Arts Centre, has been making waves across Tembisa, Benoni, and Daveyton, and we’re eager to welcome you to be a part of it.
What is Urban Labs?
Urban Labs is not your typical community engagement project. It’s a dynamic platform where local residents, community leaders, artists, and policy-makers come together to explore innovative solutions to urban challenges. Our goal is simple: to empower communities, bridge gaps, and drive positive change where it matters most—right at home.
Why Should You Attend Urban Labs 4?
- Be the Change: Local government is the closest tier of governance to the ordinary person. If you want to change local government for the better, this is your chance!
- Empowerment: Urban Labs equips you with the knowledge and tools to become an active participant in local governance and decision-making.
- Creativity: Discover the power of creativity and culture in addressing urban development and governance issues in your community.
- Collaboration: Network and collaborate with fellow community members, artists, and experts to co-create solutions.
“We must dare to invent the future.” – Thomas Sakara
